Okay, I'm reorganizing my paper. Right now I have it by sorted by colors. Then anything that's multi-color I'm sorting into stripes, dots, floral, etc. But I'm running into a dilemma... if I have a striped paper and a floral paper that coordinate do I break them up into their respective categories? Or do I try and keep them together since they coordinate? I'm so anal about this kind of thing and I just want it done already! :pullhair: lol HELP!!!
Well, I like to use my papers together - so I sort by manufacturer if I can instead. Then some things I don't have that much of one manufacturer - I sort by holiday, season, topic, flowers, whatever catagory I can lump a few together.
then my CS is sorted - well, SU CS is sorted by color family, but other CS is sorted by ROYGBIV

everything of mine is sorted by color. So if it has mostly pink stripes it goes in with the pink pp.
Mine is similar to Amy's. I do like to keep my coordinating paprs together.

I sort my patterned paper by manufacturer and then my solids by color.

Right now Basic Grey is the only paper I have sorted by manufacturer because it's my favorite paper line. The rest I don't care. If you're on, say, an Easter layout... is it hard to find something by manufacturer than going straight to a holiday category? KWIM? It just seems to me anything could be a in a manufacturer catergory while a specific pattern or theme would easier to find. Enlighten me! :D
ETA: And I guess I'm trying to avoid 20 different mini categories - don't want to thin them out too much. Seems it would get more complicated and tedious.

I'm really familiar with the manufacturers so I kind of just know what's in there. But I don't scrap by category either. Meaning that I wouldn't be looking for something that goes with Easter. Instead I'd be looking for something that goes with pink, or something bright, or something subtle...so I'd know which manufacturers have those kinds of papers. If not, I just flip through them to find what seems to match.
yeah. I believe part of my scrapping OCD is that I can often just look at something and I know who made it. visually remember what I have in my paper stash so I know what I'm looking for.

I sort my patterned papers somewhat by theme; i.e. travel, heritage, Christmas are my biggest categories and then it's a bit iffy, but I try to keep some papers grouped by mfg. or color blending, Solids are separated by color groups; i.e. reds, browns, etc.

I'm with Monica in that I know the manufacturers (at least the ones I own) pretty well, so when I look at pics I can usually "see" the paper I want to use and know who made it, and even where it's stored in my somewhat eclectic paper storage!
So, I sort by manufacturer, but I also have some stuff sorted by category. Like all my Christmas paper is together, but only if it actually has Christmas trees on it, not just if it happens to be green. Again, I know what paper I have pretty well, so when I'm doing a Christmas layout, I may head for the Christmas paper or just some other random area where I know there's paper that'll work with the pics.
CS is sorted by ROYGBIV.

Okay, I'm not going the manufacture route, except for my Basic Grey. I'm sorting by patterns (stripes, florals, etc.) and themes (baby, holidays, seaons, etc.). Then I have solids sorted by color, sub-divided by pattern paper and cardstock.
We'll see if this works for now. Thank goodness for Cropper Hopper Vertical Stoage and versatility! lol If it doesn't work after a while, I can move it around. I'll post a pic when I'm done.
Thanks for your help! :D

Umm, yeah, I just got off the phone with Jo-Ann's to see if they still have it on sale so I can go get some more!

So if the store carried vertical storage, that would be a good thing?

Yep! lol I'm at a standstill on organizing. My paper is stacked all over the room. Off to Jo-Ann's. I'll BRB but don't have too much fun without me!

That is similar to the way mine are stored. I have categories and manufacturers...It's pretty simple.

i too have categories and manufacturers. my papers that are a set though go into their own 2 gallon baggie. i have these in a big rubbermaid tub so i can glance through them when looking for coordinating sets. the nice thing about this is that i can also leave the scraps in there so they are right with the paper when i use the set for a second layout. i can usually get a couple layouts out of a few sheets of coordinating paper. but for the most part, they are in paper racks.

I love the vertical storage also...I actually am "cleaning" up my scrap space today also. I sort my PP by manufacturer and my solid by color and then i have some misc. like christmas and vacation that have their own section. I am a bit overwhelmed today with how much I have...It doesn't look like that much when it is all put away! I guess I should scrap more and shop less, or not!
