This weekend I'm hosting/going to a weekend retreat. I have NO IDEA what to pack. I'm definately a over packer when it comes to friday night crops. I've tried pre-planning but it doesn't seem work for me. Since I'm "hosting" it I'm also bringing some things for everyone to play with:

Wishblade
Laptop
Printer
Sewing Machine
Paint and stamps

I'm also bringing some goodie bags for all the ladies.

My picture organization is non-existant. I would love to scrap more emotion but tend to stick to "happenings/events" style. KWIM?

Any ideas? Tips? Should I just throw in the towel and bring it all???? lol.

I'm no help - I tend to pack everything just because I might get a wild hair and NEED IT! :)

Yep, take it all! I look like I'm going away for a month when I pack for a Friday night crop - not really any worse for a weekend retreat, since I bring it ALL for just 6 hours on Friday night, anyway!

If preplanning doesn't work for you then yep bring it all!

I'm not going to be any help either because I take it all. I hardly use any of it but I'd rather be safe than sorry. And it seems worth it on a weekend retreat. That's about all I do anymore because it seems somehow justifiable to take everything!

:) I forgot to add that I have to take lots of stuff b/c I seem to have an obsession with scrapbooking BAGS!

:) I think me making a list would be awful.

A list doesn't work for me at a grocery store so I don't really seeing it being helpful to me in this situation.

Don't forget your cords for your printer and PC!!!

I have to have eye drops (is there an echo in here) and lots of chocolate!!

Big shirt and big pants!!!

I always take all my scissors and punches for my ladies to use. Plus my Sizzix machines and dies! I like my Sizzix...I like using other peoples Cricuts!! lmao

Your camera with fresh batteries!!

Snacks in case whoever is cooking weighs 100 pounds and eats health food!!

I take extra ladies products (kwim) and aleve just in case somebody needs it!

Sounds like I have been on a few retreats!!

Don't forget your fuzzy slippers!!! I always take a paperback too!!

I have 3 pieces of the MIMI green suede awesome totes. I have the tool one, the shoulder one, and the large rolling one. I have the Tim Holtz small Junk bag, and I have a backpack that I got for scrap stuff quite a while ago. then I have my new bag coming from QVC and I would really like to have a big junk bag.

Your my kinda gal.

Thank you!! Really, I went on a retreat once where the person who was responsible for food served us fruit and salads and such. We had lots of breads I had never heard of! When I plan a retreat and cook, our most exotic bread is wheat! I thought if I didn't get something baked or fried that weekend, I was going to go crazy!!!!

One little stash of ding dongs is all I need to make the weekend perfect no matter what kind of food someone else makes! Frozen ding dongs..... :hoorah: :hoorah:

Too bad your not close Tracy. We have one more spot left. ;)

We are going to ChickieShannon's mom's retreat. Should be awesome! They are doing the cooking but we are bringing lots of treats and snacks.

Looks like I'll be packing it all. Gosh I hope I actually get some pages done.....

I'm late to the discussion, but I used to just pack it all. I had it organized so it was easily portable! :D My storage containers latched so nothing would spill. No need for portable storage now so I organized & set up a real scrap area. I'm not sure what I'd do if I was going to a crop now!!

Have fun at your retreat Monica. Will it be in New Orleans? I'm going to one in June in West Monroe. My parents are watching the girls so I can scrap! Yay.

Melanie

BTW, if anyone reads this and is in DFW area and wants to/can come please pm. We have one spot left and maybe two because one girls job is being a pain in the tooshie.

i pack way too much but finally have stopped taking it all. i have a cricut now so that all fits into one rolling tote. my printer and laptop. i used to bring all of my rub-ons... don't any more as i can complete a weekend with just computer and (if absolutely necessary) handwriting. my scrap room is organized by color. ie: the red ribbons, fibers, embellishments, everything red is in one container. for the most part, i pick a few ribbons that i like, and put everything else in a big ziplock separated by color. i have a few themes too but only bring those if i am scrapbooking those. and then of course the paper (enough to wallpaper the white house and the capitol building). and pictures. the pictures are separated out into the different layouts that i want to do. i always bring a ton and only get a couple done. i personally leave the album at home and just put them in a 2 gallon ziplock until i get them home. one thing that doesn't have to bulk up my supplies.
