This tutorial will help you with how to insert a banner into your blog.
A good size for blog banners is a width of 700-900 pixels and a height of 200-400 pixels with a resolution of 72dpi. You can play around with these dimensions as you design your banner but this is usually a safe range to use.
Creating Your Banner
1. In your photo-editing software, create a new canvas within the range of 2917-3750 pixels wide by 833-1667 pixels tall, a resolution of 300dpi, and a transparent background. (Your digital elements are always at 300dpi and when dragging elements to a new canvas the resolutions must match. So we are going to start with 300dpi and when we save for the web we will change to 72dpi. In order to start with 300dpi we also need to increase the starting dimensions so that when we resize it will be the correct dimensions. So 2917-3750 pixels wide will equal 700-900 when we're done and 833-1667 pixels tall will equal 200-400. I hope that doesn't sound too wordy/technical. ;))
2. Open your digital elements and create your banner (use digi elements, photos, text, etc.)
3. Save as a layered file (so that you can make changes in the future if needed).
4. Flatten your image.
5. Change the resolution to 72dpi and save as a JPG.
6. Upload to your blog (instructions below).
